3 Reasons Besides A Car Accident To File A Personal Injury Lawsuit

Blog

You have probably heard of a personal injury lawsuit. There are many people who file lawsuits and have good results in getting money for their troubles, and there are others who walk away with nothing. When most people think of a personal injury lawsuit they think of a car accident. Although this is one of the main reasons people file lawsuits, it is not the only reason you can sue somebody. Here are some reasons that you can file a lawsuit.

1. Property Damage

Assume that a neighbor of your does something to your property that cost you a good deal of money. Perhaps they didn't did properly tie down their lawn furniture and a wind storm hit, then this furniture blew into your yard hitting your car, breaking a house window, and even hurting somebody. In order to get the money that you deserve to pay for these things you may have to file a lawsuit. This is especially the case if the insurance company refuses to pay out.

2. A Physical Injury On Someone's Property

Another reason people file a personal injury lawsuit is that they were harmed on someone else's property. If you over at the neighbors house and their teenage daughter is backing out of the driveway and ran over your foot, you might need to file a lawsuit. This will allow you to get their insurance to pay for the medical bills, time off work, and so forth associated with the injury. If the person is not openly willing to pay you for the injury they caused, then you might have to file a lawsuit. You could even do this for a dog bite, whether or not it was on the owners property. If it was their dog, you could sue them.

3. A Medical Procedure Gone Wrong

Another common reason that people file a personal injury lawsuit is if they undergo some sort of medical procedure and it goes wrong. You can't guarantee that all medical procedures will work out exactly as they are suppose to, but in some cases the doctor was negligent or irresponsible and because of their actions, you were injured. Usually you will have to ask other doctors what they would have done in the same situation, and if they say that they would have done the same thing, you may not have a lawsuit. But if the other professionals say that the doctor acted against protocol, or that they acted irresponsibly, you might have grounds for a lawsuit.

As you can see personal injury lawsuits go beyond just car accidents. For more information, you will want to contact a professional, such as the ones found at Gelman Gelman Wiskow & McCarthy LLC.

Talking About Car Accident Cases

Hello everyone, my name is Nina Zoulon. On this site, I am going to share information about hiring a personal injury attorney. I will also talk about my journey to procuring those services for myself. When I was a beginning driver, I was on the road constantly. During one of those excursions, a driver going the opposite direction crossed the centerline and plowed straight into my vehicle. I was trapped by the dashboard for hours while firefighters helped me escape. After the accident, the other driver tried to blame my inexperience on the accident. I hired a lawyer to help me fight the case and I won. I would like to discuss personal injury attorney services in more detail to help other people win their cases in court. Thanks.
